Description
Jeroen Ensink was a Senior Lecturer in Public Health Engineering at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and a Course Executive for the MSc Public Health for Development between 2009 and 2015.
Jeroen was single-mindedly dedicated to a simple cause: improving access to water and hygiene in nations where children continue to expire unnecessarily due to the absence of these basic facilities. As a researcher and teacher, his career crossed many continents, living and working in Asian and African countries, cooperating with several universities and universal agencies. He was a natural coach and enormously popular with students in whom he invested much time and energy. He provided support and motivation in equivalent degree and many of his students are now successful academics and public health specialists in their own right.
Following his death on 29 December 2015, LSHTM established a Memorial Trust in his name to back students from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia who are dedicated to improving public health in low- or middle- income countries and wish to commence the MSc Public Health for Development programme.
