Description
Established in 2019 and sustained by a yearly gift from Queensland Firebirds and UQ Marketing and Communications. The aim of this Scholarship is to support ad encourage new students who have demonstrated a passion for netball.
Eligibilities
A candidate is qualified for the Scholarship if the candidate:
- Submits an application by the closing date for applications
- Completed year 12 in the year prior to award
- Aims to enroll as a commencing student in an Accepted Program in the year of award
- Can prove they have played netball for school or a club, or contributed to the sport of netball through volunteering or training within the previous 2-year period.
Benefits
The value of the scholarship is $5,000 for 1 year.

Selection criteria
The Scholarships will be granted on the basis of the following criteria:
- In no particular order, preference may be given to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Persons, students who are first in their family to attend university, or a Regional or Remote Student
- Academic achievement in years 11 and 12
- Accomplishments and obligation to the netball community
- Leadership achievements and capabilities
- Demonstrated financial need
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Termination of scholarship
The University may dismiss the Scholarship:
- If the receiver does not show cause to the reasonable satisfaction of the University as provided for in rule 6(3)
- If the receiver interrupts their study without consent
- If the student commits serious misconduct
