The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the arm of the Arab Bank for Cultural and Social Responsibility, announces the inaugural of the door to apply for the Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize for Children’s Literature in its 15th session for the year 2021, on the theme of the course (diaries of a boy / girl) directed to the age group 10-14 years , observing that the last date is the end April 2021.
A diary is a recording of visible and invisible things and actual or fictional events in their two states of separation or amalgamation, and it is described in the first person’s integrity. The stories must spin around the daily life of the child or teenage, and express what he reflects. In order to fit into the field of literature, the style must be fascinating, the language is fictional, the narration vibrant, along with the intimacy of the presentation and the sincerity of the approach
Eligibilities
- The candidate must be of Arab nationality or of Arab origin.
- Nomination for the prize is acknowledged by the writer himself.
- The candidate must be at least 18 years old.
- The work submitted for the prize must be innovative and not translated or cited from another language.
- The work submitted for the prize should not be available in newspapers, periodicals, websites, or others.
- The work must not be submitted to another prize or has formerly won a prize.
- Entries that arrive after the progress period and unfinished documents are excluded.
- Works that are submitted outside the stated theme are excluded.
- The candidate is not permitted to make any modification or amendment to his chosen work after his arrival at the award board.
- The Foundation will not return the submitted works, whether they win or lose.
- The Foundation is under no compulsion to provide candidates with any feedback about their unqualified works after the outcomes appear.
- The Foundation has the right to issue and produce the primary version of the winning works on paper for one year, and electronically and audio for five years, and the victor would receive (50) duplicates of the publication.
- The winning work is subject to conversation and alteration in discussion with the author at the pleasure of the award board.
- The Foundation has the right to refuse the award for this session
Benefits
The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation grants each winner a certificate in his name and in the field of literary art in which he is victorious, long with a shield bearing the name of the award and the foundation’s logo, and a monetary reward of (18,000) Jordanian dinars divided into three places:
- First place: (10,000) Jordanian dinars
- Second place: (5000) Jordanian dinars
- Third place: (3000) Jordanian dinars
