The Africa Scholarship Program (ASP) is an initiative by Wageningen University & Research to provide determined and brilliant African students, an opportunity to study in Wageningen.
The university aims to promote capacity building in Africa through this initiative, by attracting extraordinary students for a 2-years master’s program. The Africa Scholarship Program is an invitation-based scholarship
Eligibilities
It would not be possible to apply directly for this scholarship, so the applicant:
- Must be a resident of an African country
- Is a brilliant student with a First-class honors degree or a GPA of 80% or higher in an undergraduate degree
- Has applied before February 1st, 2021 in any one of the master’s programs of Wageningen University & Research.

Selection procedure:
All the African students categorically admitted to an MSc program at Wageningen University in the first half of March 2021 would be critically evaluated with regard to the Africa Scholarship Program
A nominated group of applicants would be invited by e-mail on March 15th, 2021 to participate in the ASP selection procedure. Only applicants who will be invited for the ASP selection would receive an e-mail. It would be declared on the website (under step 5) when the invites have been sent.
The first step of the selection procedure contains a task for which the final date will be March 31st, 2021.
After an in-depth evaluation of all received assignments, a slighter selection of applicants would be invited for the second step of the selection process, which is a Skype interview with a part of the selection committee. The Skype interviews would take place between April 19th and April 30th, 2021.
All nominated applicants who have been invited to write an assignment would be notified on April 12th, 2021 whether or not they would be invited for a Skype interview.
Outcomes of the selection procedure:
On May 14th, 2021, the outcome of the selection procedure would be communicated to all applicants that had a Skype interview. The probable outcomes are:
- Positive and an ASP scholarship would be granted
- Positive but the applicant would be placed on a waiting list
- Negative, denoting that no ASP scholarship would be granted.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Significant dates for the ASP at a glimpse:
