Description
Every year the ANU College of Business and Economics (”the College”) offers up to two awards known as the ANU College of Business & Economics Terrell Scholarship (“the award”). The sole purpose of the award is to recruit high caliber students into the Bachelor of Economics or the Bachelor of Finance programs. Funding for this award is provided by the Professor Deane and Jenny Terrell Fund.
Eligibilities
The award is available each year to a prospective student who:
- is a domestic or international student;
- is registered into the Bachelor of Economics or Bachelor of Finance or a double degree with one of the programs offered by the College; and
- has finished a Year 12 or equivalent in Australia with a minimum ATAR score of 90 along with demonstrated high Mathematics accomplishment (e.g., ACT Mathematical Methods (Major)-a minimum of 159 and above or equivalent as per the Interstate Year 12 comparable table)
Ongoing Eligibility
- The award receiver is required to enroll in a full-time load of 24 units per semester. Receivers are expected to preserve a 70% average in order to receive the second instalment in the following semester of study.
- If a receiver is not able to achieve the required average in their first semester they risk having their award terminated.
- A recipient is given the opportunity to explain their performance and how their performance can be remedied before a decision on the termination of an award is made.
Benefits
The value of the award is specified in the letter of offer, and its duration is one year. The award is paid in two equal instalments after the Census Date of each semester, unless otherwise detailed in the letter of offer.
It is the responsibility of the receiver to make payments of tuition fees by the given date as set out by the University each session. Receivers of this award are responsible for the costs of books, study materials, accommodation and all other study expenses.

The College reserves the right to make no award if it reflects that no applicant falls in the line of adequate merit. The College may also differ the number of awards (where the budget allows) and/or offer the award at other times in some exceptional situations or on the basis of application’s standard.

Concurrent holding of other awards:
A receiver of the CBE Terrell Scholarship is allowed to simultaneously hold other scholarships, awards, grants and bursaries subject to the terms of the consistent segment in the award conditions of the other scholarship/bursary/grant/award that they hold.
Repayment of funds:
Depending on the information available at the time, the Dean of the College of Business and Economics (or nominee) may appeal that the semester payment in which the breach of conditions or withdrawal occurs, must be compensated in part or in full
