Description
Every year the School of Art & Design, ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences offers two awards known as the ANU Visual Arts Endowment Scholarship. The sole purpose of these scholarships is to support and encourage students who show extraordinary promise in the fields of Design and Visual Arts.
Funding for this award has been provided by The Australian National University Visual Arts Endowment.
Eligibilities
The award is offered every year to current ANU students who:
- are a domestic or international student;
- are enrolled in a Bachelor of Design or Bachelor of Visual Arts program offered by the School of Art & Design in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences;
- were admitted to the Bachelor of Design or Bachelor of Visual Arts program in 1st Semester of the current year or 2nd Semester of the previous year.
Ongoing Eligibility:
A receiver of this award is required to register in a full-time load of 18-24 units per semester. A receiver may ask for approval, in writing, from the Dean of the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences to hold the award on a part-time basis. If permitted, payments of the award will be made on a pro-rata basis.
Benefits
The scholarship is valued at $5,000 is rewarded in one installment after the census date in the semester in which it is granted.

Application Process
There is no application as students are automatically considered on the basis of criteria given under the Eligibility section.
Applications would be accepted between 1st April the year prior to the awarding of the scholarship, and closes on the 31st March in the same year of the scholarship
Selection
Selection is made on the basis of the highest School of Art & Design selection rank given to one student for admission to the Bachelor of Design (BDESN) and one student for admission to the Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVART).
The interview panel determines The School of Art & Design selection rank throughout the admission procedure for the Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Visual Arts programs. At the interview the panel is considering, and making selection commendations against, the published ‘Admission Rubric for Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Visual Arts’.
If the highest School of Art & Design selection rank is achieved by more than one student for admission to the similar program a selection committee will be organized and selection will be made based on the calibre of the digital portfolio submitted during the interview process.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The award concludes or should be surrendered:
- if a student no longer meets the eligibility requirements; on the date on which the receiver extracts or ceases to appear in the University other than for accepted nonappearances;
- if a receiver doesn’t enroll as required in section 8;
- if a receiver changes to part-time registration without getting consent to retain their scholarship;
- if a receiver breaks academic or behavior rules set by the University under the Academic Misconduct & Discipline Rules
