The C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship is among the most substantial privately subsidized scholarships offered to undergraduate and post-graduate students in Australia. The Charles Hawker Scholarship preserves the reminiscence of soldier, politician, pastoralist and scholar Charles Allan Seymour Hawker. C.A.S. Scholarships are available to all Australian students. The majority have been presented to students entering their first year of university study. In 2020, three students were chosen as 2020 C.A.S. Hawker scholars, and two of the students among them are now studying at ANU.

- Candidates must be Australian citizens.
- The majority of scholarships are granted to students entering their first year of University.

- Each residential scholarship is worth up to $60,000 over 3 years
- These scholarships pay fees at numerous colleges in the ACT, SA, VIC and NSW to a level determined by the representatives.

Selection is based on personal potentials alongside academic capability. Successful candidates have the ability to demonstrate their potential as a future leader and the contribution they have made to their school and wider community. Preference is given to candidates aspiring to a career in public affairs, politics and / or public service. Students from regional areas are encouraged to apply.
Applications open in early December after year 12 results are known and close in early January, to allow successful candidates to begin their university year. Short listed candidates are required to attend an interview with the representatives in late January. Depending on situations, the interview may be via video conferencing. Candidates are guided of the position of their application by early February.
Successful candidates have to provide the representatives with a progress report written on annual basis. They are also encouraged to maintain contact with the representatives once they have finished their studies.
