DAAD Scholarship at AIT is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

 

For this scholarship, candidates need must apply to one of the following programs under the Department of Development and Sustainability, School of Environment, Resources and Development to be eligible for this scholarship:

 

  • Gender and Development Studies (GDS)
  • Natural Resources Management (NRM)
  • Regional and Rural Development Planning (RRDP) (To be renamed soon as Development Planning Management and Innovation (DPMI)

 

The applicant must be careful, while applying for the admission AIT system.

Eligibilities

Eligibilities
  • Must be citizens of one of the following countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, East Timor, Thailand, and Vietnam
  • have fruitfully completed a three-year university with above-average academic performance (upper third of class) not more than 6 years ago at the time of application.
  • clearly demonstrate strong commitment and motivation.
  • have thorough command of written English (IELTS or AIT-EET 6.0 or above). See http://bit.ly/ait-eng-req
  • must fulfill AIT online admission requirements. Candidates must apply to http://bit.ly/ait-admission and pay the registration fee

 

Female candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to apply.

The scholarship covers the following items:

Bursary(Accommodation, Food etc.) Monthly 500 EUR
Travel allowance(Non-Thai) Twice (beginning/end of scholarship) The flat rate travel allowance will be specified in the letter of award
Insurance The tuition fees include health insurance

 

The scholarship will either be disbursed by the host institution, the German Embassy or would be paid to the banking account of scholarship holder directly. More details would be announced after admission to the scholarship programme.

 

Other Benefits

 

DAAD scholarship recipients are also encouraged to apply for a research stay in Germany for 2 up to 6 months. Please note: The short-term research stay in Germany should rather be declared in the application for the regular scholarship and could only be granted if the essential financial resources are available. The short-term research scholarship includes:

 

  • a monthly scholarship payment for living costs
  • health/accident/personal liability insurance
  • a flat-rate travel allowance

Before beginning the application procedure, the applicant must read all the instructions carefully. Then they would be requested to provide a password. This would enable the applicant to return to his file anytime before application submission.

 

After the given deadline, the administration will screen, pre-select (as per DAAD selection criteria) and short-list the candidates. Qualified candidates would be contacted for the following extra documents:

 

  • DAAD application form appropriately filled in (to be provided to short-listed applicants)
  • Hand signed curriculum vitae (please use the European specimen form at http://europass.cedefop. Europa.eu), including a list of publications (if applicable).
  • One recommendation letter by a university teacher
  • Letter of admission from AIT
  • Certified copies of university degree certificates including transcripts
  • Letter of motivation (if applicable: mentioning the planned research stay in Germany, see “Additional benefits”)
  • Copy of the passport
