Google initiated the Google SVA Scholarship in association with Student Veteran of America, as part of their commitment to military veterans, the scholarship provides support to student veterans who are pursuing computer science degree in any of the universities in the U.S.

 

 

Eligibilities

Eligibilities

To be qualified to apply, candidates must:

 

  • Be currently registered as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university or college
  • Aim to be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student at a university in the United States for the 2021-22 academic year
  • Maintain academic performance strongly
  • Pursuing a computer engineering or computer science degree, or a degree in a closely relevant technical field
  • A current student veteran (involves National Guard or Reserve members) as demonstrated by a DD-214 and transcript, or a student on Active Duty as verified by Active-Duty submission guidelines and a Memorandum of Understanding from your commanding officer representative that you are presently in respectable standing with your transcript and unit
  • Is in good standing with his/her branch of service or has received an honorable discharge

The applicant would be asked to complete an Online application through Student Veterans of America which comprises of:

 

  • Overall background information (e.g contact information or details about the applicant’s intended and present universities)
  • Resume/CV
  • Academic records from the current and previous institutions of the applicant (if he/she have earned a previous degree)
  • Active-Duty orders with a Memorandum of Understanding from the commanding officer that the applicant currently in good standing with his/her unit or DD Form 2-14 Discharge or Release certificate from Active Duty (DD-214)
  • One reference letter from an instructor, coach, adviser, or administrator
  • Responses to three brief essay queries

 

Beneficiaries would be nominated on the basis of application materials compared to the whole applicant pool and the overall strength of their essays
