Objectives and key questions for online workshop

In spring 2020, school closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic impacted more than 90% of the global student population. UNESCO is supporting countries in their efforts to mitigate the immediate impact of school closures, particularly for more vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, and to facilitate the continuity of education for all through the Global Education Coalition.

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) can contribute during and after the pandemic by helping to build resilience and to transform our lives towards a more sustainable world. While the search for new forms of remote learning continues in the prolonged pandemic, the second online workshop explores how ESD learning can take place under physical distancing regulations, in high- and low-resource settings. ESD practitioners across the world will share how they continued ESD despite the challenging situation during the pandemic. Based on these experiences, the session will explore how resilient ESD structures can be built to ensure that ESD learning continues during crises.
