Description of task
Under the general supervision of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Nairobi, the direct management of the Manager of the UNESCO Antenna in Madagascar and in partnership with the Communication and Information project manager, the United Nations Volunteer would be performing following tasks:
- Plan, ensure the monitoring and execution of the project work plan by guaranteeing the reliability of the actions developed within the agenda of the work plan;
- Ensure the satisfactory accomplishment of project outcomes;
- Write all progress reports and final reports required by the project;
- Facilitate, coordinate and supervise the various project interventions between the project partners;
- Provide technical support and facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building, focusing on results: coordination of the collection, systematization and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned within the framework of the project;
- Ensure quality assurance concerning the services / products / deliverables to be performed;
- Develop all the terms of reference necessary for the implementation of activities;
- Monitor the budgetary, financial and administrative aspects of the project in collaboration with the project manager and the project assistant;
- Ensure collaboration, regular contacts and dialogue with partners, and with the project coordinator;
- Monitor the impacts of activities during the project implementation phases;
- Collaborate with partners and other agencies involved in the project;
- Help mobilize funds and develop partnerships for peacebuilding activities;
- Ensure communication of activities carried out with the Nairobi office;
- Perform any other function that can support UNESCO in the development of its activities
Eligibilities
Minimum age of applicants must be 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Required Degree Level:
A Bachelors Degree in Communication and Journalism, Good Governance and Peacebuilding, Planning, Project Execution or in a similar field
Required Experience:
- 24 Months experience required
- Fluency in Malagasy and French is required, and knowledge of English is an asset.
Language skills:
- Malagasy (Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- French (Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- English (Optional), Level – Working Knowledge
Area of expertise:
- Journalism, mass media and broadcasting,
- Other development program / project experience,
- Development program management
