Description

Description

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and it benefits both societies at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers. In most cultures volunteerism is deeply embedded in long-established, ancient traditions of sharing and support within the communities.

The Morocco Country Office works within the framework of UN Women’s normative, coordination, and programmatic mandates with governmental and non-governmental partners towards achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment in Morocco. As part of its normative mandate, UN Women Morocco works with national and local governments as well as civil society organizations towards developing and implementing laws and public policies to eliminate violence against women and girls. It also supports women Members of Parliament to harmonize national legal frameworks with international commitments and constitutional provisions on women’s rights. Within the framework of its coordination mandate, UN Women Morocco leads, promotes and coordinates efforts within the UN development system to advance the full realization of women’s rights and opportunities by developing accountability mechanisms and producing gender-sensitive data in support of evidence-based policies and programs.
