UN Women is the United Nations organization dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. As a global advocate for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress that will lead to better living conditions for women and to respond to the needs they face around the world.
UN Women has had a presence in Bolivia since 2005, initially under the UNIFEM Andean Region program and since 2011 as UN Women Country Office working in three mandates:
- Regulatory, providing technical assistance and support in the application of legal and political frameworks to the 4 State Bodies (executive, legislative, judicial and electoral), departmental governments and municipal governments.
- Programmatic, framed in the projects and programs of the country office in the strategic areas of Governance and Political Participation, Economic Empowerment and Violence against Women.
- Coordination and strategic alliances, cooperating to develop the capacities of government actors, civil society, the private sector, academia and the United Nations System as guarantors of women’s rights.
Eligibilities
Minimum age of applicants must be 25 years old, Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty station.
Required Degree Level:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Economics or related areas
Required Experience:
- 60 Months
- At least 3 years of professional work experience at the national and / or international level in project management related to the area of economy and / or productive development.
- At least 2 years of professional work experience linked to the area of economic empowerment of women.
Language skills:
- Spanish (Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- English (Optional), Level – Working Knowledge
Area of expertise:
- Gender equality and the advancement of women,
- Development program management,
- Other finance, economics and administration related experience
- Experience in the application and monitoring of technical training and / or economic empowerment programs.
- Studies on gender and / or human rights. Postgraduate or specialization studies will be valued positively.
- Experience working at the UN or in other international development organizations will be an asset.
- Motivated to contribute to peace and development and to serve others.

A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) which is composed of the Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) and a Family Allowance (FA) for those with dependents (maximum three).
The Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs. The VLA can be computed by applying the Post-Adjustment Multiplier (PAM) to the VLA base rate of US$ 1,651. The VLA base rate is a global rate across the world, while the PAM is duty station/country-specific and fluctuates on a monthly basis according to the cost of living. This method ensures that international UN Volunteers have comparable purchasing power at all duty stations irrespective of varying costs of living. The PAM is established by the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) and is published at the beginning of every month on the ICSC website http://icsc.un.org.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Within the framework of the delegated authority and under the supervision of Program Management Specialist or his / her designated representative , the UN Volunteer will perform the following tasks:
- Coordination of the implementation of the gender component of the Joint Program “Mitigation of the socioeconomic impact of COVID19 on employment and income of self-employed workers in the informal economy.”
- Support in the design and implementation of programs and projects related to financial inclusion and the economic empowerment of women.
- Monitoring and review of products and documents that may be developed within the framework of the implementation of the Joint Program.
- Coordination and organization of events and activities within the framework of the Joint Program.
- Development of policy documents, knowledge management, proposals, project documents, communication notes and others required in the framework of the implementation of the Joint Program and the area of Economic Empowerment of Women.
- Support in the development of knowledge, experiences, good practices and lessons learned.
- Technical, programmatic and financial monitoring of the implementation of the program
- Preparation of follow-up and monitoring reports.
- Coordination with the communication area of UN Women for the development of notes and articles for the official UN Women newsletter
- Any other activity that is required or assigned by the supervisor.
