UBC’s Vantage One program is for educationally strong foreign students whose English language proficiency does not yet meet the requirements for direct admission into UBC. These awards are granted to undergraduate students entering the UBC Vantage One Program on the basis of academic merit.

 

The awards would be renewed for up to three extra years or to degree completion, whichever is less, provided the receiver preserves his/her status as a foreign student in Canada. Award winners will have their awards reviewed yearly to evaluate and update academic progress and financial requirement.

To be eligible for the Vantage One Excellence Award:

 

  • The candidate must be a foreign student who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian study document.
  • Candidates must be graduating or have freshly graduated from a recognized senior secondary school.
  • Candidates must be commencing their undergraduate studies at UBC in the UBC Vantage One Program.
  • Candidates must meet admission requirements of UBC, including general and degree-specific requirements along with the English Language Admission Standard.
  • Candidates must demonstrate greater academic accomplishment.

 

Please note: If applicants are selected for a Vantage One Excellence Award, they would not be considered for merit-based awards, including Outstanding International Student Awards and International Major Entrance Scholarships.

The awards range in worth up to the complete cost of a student’s academic program and living expenditures. The worth of each award is dependent on the receiver’s financial requirement.
