Introducing the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Scholarships

Pursuing a higher education abroad is a dream for many. Especially after completing your Bachelors from your home country, you are ready to take on new challenges. However, international Master Degree Programs are not cheap. Most students have to look into scholarships to fund their studies. If you are interested in pursuing your Masters from Europe, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Scholarships are definitely something you should look into.

What is the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree?

The Erasmus Mundus is one of the most popular scholarship programs. It is recognized all over the world and is highly recommended for students who are interested in getting a wholesome learning experience in Europe. Various higher education institutions across Europe and some other countries jointly manage the program to ensure that students get more and more options of choosing degrees that are relevant to them.

Right now, EMJMD is offering more than 115 Master Programs including Engineering, Medical, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and anything and everything else. Each year new programs are added to the list while some of the least popular ones are taken out. The scholarship covers the full tuition fee of the program and all other academic costs that are associated with it (library, laboratory, insurance etc.). It also covers some of the travel costs and gives you a monthly allowance for the entire duration of the program. There is no set amount of the scholarship as it varies according to the course you have chosen and your nationality.

The unique aspect about the EMJMD is that the study has to take place in two different countries. Therefore, if you are starting your degree in France, you might be ending it in Germany. The programs run for different durations- a minimum of 12 months to a maximum of 24 months. The ECTS credits may also vary between 60, 90, and 120.

What is the application procedure?

Generally, the application period opens in October and goes on until January. During this 4-month period, you can apply at any time according to your convenience. Make sure you make a proper timeline so you do not miss any deadlines. The research takes a long time because there are so many programs and other things to consider before applying. By June, the applicants are informed of the decisions and by July, the grant is awarded to them. Again, depending on your university and the start date of your specific program, your flight will have to be booked sometime between August and October.
